It was July of 2002, on the last day of the last week of Summer Camp, when Campers, Volunteers, and Program Staff all got together after Closing Worship to record what we affectionately call "The Bluestone Song"....  a song which attempts (in some small way) to put into words the very feelings so many people have for this place.

The initial recording effort only took an hour and a half.  We set up four microphones, plugged up a guitar, and away we went.  Once the campers settled down for the night, some of the staff who had been teaching the song to campers all summer long recorded their own guitars on separate tracks.  A couple alumni staff sat in as well, adding flare to the mix with a harmonica and some additional guitar work.

None of this would have been possible without the help of our good friend Adrian Pratt, Pastor of the Beckley Presbyterian Church.  Adrian gave many additional hours in mixing the song into its current form, and we now have digitally arranged MP3 files which may be downloaded by clicking on the links to your right.

Guitarists who contributed on the night of the recording were Ben Sutton, Kris Myers, Mark Miller, and Dan Heidt. The Harmonica was played by Jason Lawrence.   Matt Pratt kicked in some Bass Guitar after the fact, and  Adrian added in a whole bunch of other stuff during the weeks that followed (check out the Polished Mix).

In 2003, Mark Miller and Dan Heidt recorded a special version for Bluestone's 50th Anniversary.
